Ingredients

2 slices crusty bread
1 teaspoon butter softened
handful of arugula
2 sweet gherkin pickles sliced
3 slices smoked ham
2 slices white Cheddar cheese
1 small tomato sliced
1 teaspoon whole grain mustard
Instructions
- Spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of crusty bread.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer the arugula, gherkin pickles, smoked ham, white Cheddar cheese, and tomato slices.
- Spread the whole grain mustard on the other slice of bread and place it mustard side down on top of the fillings.
- Press gently, slice in half, and serve immediately or pack for later.
Notes
Feel free to customize the fillings with your favorite cheeses or meats. This sandwich can also be made ahead of time for an easy lunch option.
