Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Tongs
  • Cutting Board
  • Paper towels
  • Knife (for optional garnish)

Ingredients

  • 2 filet mignon steaks 1.5–2 inches thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Fresh herbs e.g., rosemary or thyme
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat for 3–5 minutes.

Prepare the Steaks:

  • Pat the filet mignon steaks dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Rub both sides with olive oil to help the seasoning stick and promote a golden crust.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, pressing gently to adhere.

Cook the Steaks:

  • Place the steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Cook for 9-11 minutes for medium-rare, flipping halfway through. Check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer:
  • Rare: 120–125°F / Medium-Rare: 130–135°F / Medium: 140–145°F / Well-Done: 150°F and above
  • Rest the Steaks: Once cooked, remove from the air fryer and let them rest on a cutting board, loosely tented with foil, for 5 minutes to redistribute the juices.

Optional Finishing Touches:

  • Top with a pat of butter and sprinkle with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for added flavor.
  • Garnish with lemon wedges for a refreshing touch.
