Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon honey adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger optional
  • 1 –2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice optional
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Boil the Water: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small pot or kettle.
  • Infuse the Cinnamon: Add 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon) to the boiling water. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 3–5 minutes.
  • Add Ginger (Optional): If using fresh ginger, stir it into the water and let it simmer for another 2–3 minutes.
  • Strain the Tea: Remove the cinnamon stick or strain the tea to eliminate any ground cinnamon or ginger bits.
  • Sweeten and Flavor: Stir in 1 teaspoon of honey, adjusting to your desired sweetness. Add fresh lemon juice and cayenne pepper if you prefer extra zing.
  • Serve: Pour the tea into a mug, sip slowly, and enjoy the soothing warmth.
